Hyundai Recalls 600K Cars for Seat Belt, Charging Issues

Hyundai has announced a major recall in September 2025, affecting more than 600,000 vehicles.

This Hyundai recall of 2025 centers on two separate issues: faulty seat belts in the Palisade and defective charging port doors in the Ioniq 6.

If you own one of these cars, here’s what you need to know.

Hyundai Recall: Half a Million Vehicles Affected by Seat Belt Defect

  • This is a Hyundai Palisade seat belt recall that impacts certain 2020 - 2025 Palisade SUVs.

  • Roughly 568,580 vehicles are affected.

  • The problem is with seat belt buckle assemblies in the driver, passenger, and second row “window” seats. In some cases, the buckles may fail to latch properly.

  • Until repairs are completed, Hyundai recommends inserting the belt with a quick, firm motion and pulling on it to confirm it’s secure.

  • Dealers will inspect and replace the seat belt buckles free of charge.

  • The Hyundai Ioniq 6 charging port recall affects certain 2023 - 2025 Ioniq 6 electric vehicles.

  • About 31,000 vehicles are impacted.

  • The charging port door may not latch correctly, which can cause it to detach and create a hazard.

  • Dealers will inspect and repair the charging port doors, also free of charge.

NHTSA Hyundai Recall and Safety Issues

Both recalls fall under the NHTSA Hyundai recall process. While there have been no reported crashes, injuries, or fatalities linked to these problems, they highlight ongoing Hyundai safety issues that need attention.

If your vehicle is part of the recall, you can check your VIN through Hyundai or the NHTSA site and schedule service with a local dealer.

The Hyundai Recall of 2025

The Hyundai recall of 2025 underscores how important it is to stay on top of manufacturer updates. The scale of the Hyundai recall in September 2025 may feel a bit overwhelming, but the fixes are free and designed to keep drivers safe.

If you own a Palisade or an Ioniq 6, please take a few minutes to confirm whether your car is affected and book your repair as soon as possible.
